Bhagwal is a word what we use in Uttarakhand for Diwali. You are going to watch what I captured this Bagwaali from my vision. Old Tehri used to be social hub when it's festival. They used to celebrate Bagwaal in Priyadarshini maidan, Old Tehri. It was all about celebrating Bagwaal together with happiness and sharing strong emotion through giving respect to each other. On Bagwaali night, people dress up in new clothes or their best outfits, light up diyas (lamps and candles) inside and outside their home, participate in family puja (prayers) typically to Lakshmi – the goddess of fertility and prosperity. After puja, fireworks follow, then a family feast including mithai (sweets), and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends. Bagwaal also marks a major shopping period in nations where it is celebrated.
In this video, you will see Bhailu or Bhaila. Bhailu used instead of Crackers in Garhwal which is eco-friendly. The best thing about bhaila is you can enjoy it with your moves. It needs a few skills to control when you play with it. Its kind of a device of happiness to Uttarakhandi people. Majorly male and female both can play with it. I captured the best Diwali celebration moments.
